State Child Health Resource Centres

The Norway- India Partnership Initiative focuses on the issues of reducing child mortality and improving child health to attain the Millennium Development Goal 4 by the year 2015. It aims at catalytic and strategic support to accelerate the implementation of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in five focus states, specifically to improve Child health and related maternal health service delivery in quality and access. The catalytic input will also be aimed at improving visibility of child health in public health and create mechanisms that will ensure sustainability under NRHM processes.

The challenges for the states, is to demystify the child health dialogue and make it simple for the service providers to understand the issues in a practical way. One such initiative at the National level is the creation of National Child Health Resource Centre (NCHRC) at NIHFW. However, these pedagogy needs to be decentralized with the development of similar platform at the state and district level.

State Child Health Resource Centers (SCHRC) are being developed in the four states of Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa, on the same lines as that of the National Child Health Resource Center (NCHRC) at NIHFW.
